About Coinclair
A study room built around the people inside it.
We started with one question: why does talking about household budgets feel so hard? We built Coinclair to make it feel simpler.

Where Coinclair began
Coinclair was set up in Kuala Lumpur by a small team of educators who noticed that budgeting workshops tended to either talk down to participants or overwhelm them with spreadsheets and jargon. Neither approach helped anyone sit down on a Sunday and actually plan their week ahead.
We wanted to build something different — something that felt more like sitting at a well-lit table with a knowledgeable friend than sitting through a corporate seminar. The name Coinclair comes from an older sense of the word "clair" — meaning clear, legible, readable. That is the quality we aim for in every piece of material we put in front of a participant.
Today we run a small number of programmes in deliberate formats: a guided workshop, a self-paced toolkit, and a multi-week programme. All three are centred on tools you can take home and use the same evening.
Our Mission
What we are here to do
Our mission is straightforward: help people in Malaysia build a clearer, more comfortable relationship with the money they earn and spend each month. Not to make them wealthy overnight — that is not what budgeting education is about. But to help them feel less uncertain, less reactive, and more steady when it comes to household decisions.
We believe that good money habits are built slowly, through small, repeatable actions — not through willpower alone. Our programmes are designed with that belief at their centre.

Our Standards
How we approach content quality
Every programme and piece of material we produce is reviewed against a consistent set of standards before it goes in front of a participant.
Accuracy Review
All content is reviewed for factual accuracy and checked against current publicly available budgeting guidance before each programme intake.
Accessible Language
Materials are written and reviewed for plain, clear English at a level suitable for participants without a finance background.
Privacy & Data Care
Participant information is handled with care, stored securely, and never shared with third parties outside of what is described in our privacy policy.
General Education Scope
All content is framed as general educational information. We do not cross into regulated financial advice and are clear about that boundary in every session.
Regular Material Updates
Worksheets and module content are reviewed periodically and updated where examples, figures, or context has become outdated.
Participant Feedback Loop
We collect feedback after every intake and use it to identify where material could be clearer, more useful, or better paced.
Our Values
What we believe about money education
Coinclair operates on the belief that most people are not missing willpower when it comes to their household finances — they are missing a clear, accessible framework for thinking through where their money goes each month. Our programmes are built to provide that framework in a format that is easy to return to and build on over time.
We work from a non-judgmental starting point. People arrive at a budgeting workshop from many different circumstances — some are managing stretched incomes, others are earning comfortably but finding their money disappearing without a clear reason. Our materials and facilitators are trained to create an environment where participants feel safe to be honest about their current situation.
We keep our programme formats small because we believe the quality of learning improves when there is space for questions and conversation. A smaller group means a facilitator can check in with each participant rather than delivering a monologue to a room.
Our Kuala Lumpur location on Jalan Sultan Ismail is central by design — accessible by multiple public transport lines and easy to reach for participants from across the city and Klang Valley. We want the practical logistics of attending to be as uncomplicated as the material itself.
